I love having the ability and support to create an organized schedule for completing tasks and hitting deadlines. Everyone here is very goal driven and passionate about the work we do, so that’s extra incentive to keep our operation running smoothly. And being located right in the heart of the Ped Mall (and above Bread Garden!) is an undeniable perk.
What do you do in your spare time?
I really love to read so I spend a good chunk of my free time milling about in local bookstores trying to find my next novel to devour (my favorite bookstore in town is the Haunted Bookshop). I also fervently enjoy being outside in nature and spend as much time as I can camping, hiking, and biking.
If you could invite any 3 people--living or dead--to dinner, who would you invite?
1. Anthony Bourdain- I can’t think of a more interesting dinner guest than the man who spent his life trying different food from all over the world. But we would have to order in because there is no way I could handle the pressure of cooking for him!
2. Frida Kahlo- She has been my favorite artist since I was young. She would be a fascinating person to talk to and I would just love a chance to pick her brain.
3. Emily Dickinson- I’ve always been so fascinated by the mystery that is her life. I have countless questions I’ve always wanted to ask her about her about her poetry and personal life.
How are you involved in the community?
I am currently working with the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library to create an exhibit about public art and protest art (focused on the concept of the Berlin Wall) which is meant to get local students and community members involved and thinking about what it means to use art as a form of protest. I am also very politically involved locally and spend a lot of my free time volunteering for campaigns and organizations.
