Learning about, listening to, and understanding what the client needs is crucial to creating a successful partnership.

It’s plain and simple, really – I fell in love with design during my freshman year of college when I found myself enjoying a 3-hour elective drawing class way more than my compulsory 3-hour biology lab. My fledgling interest in the arts soon developed into a keen passion for graphic design. If we’re not pushing for a deadline, most weekends you’ll find me in the back yard attempting to create a garden worthy of Monty Don’s approval, walking around my neighborhood listening to podcasts, or painting or drawing.

If you could invite any 3 people--living or dead--to dinner, who would you invite?

Currently, I’d invite Jessica Hische, Jimmy Fallon, and Betty White and we’d have burgers and beers at George’s – one of my favorite Iowa City landmarks. My answer will most likely change next week though, because I’ll start thinking of hundreds of other people to invite and I’ll probably be craving breakfast food for dinner.

What drives you?

It’s always exciting when a new or potential project comes through the door. Learning about, listening to, and understanding what the client needs and wants before design begins is crucial to creating a successful partnership.

What excites you most about Neumann Monson?

Hands down, the people. Everyone is personable and energetic – and takes great design to heart.
