MERGE

MERGE provides an environment for those who choose where and how to work – like local start-ups, entrepreneurs, and traveling business professionals. The project is a renovation of 14,000 sf into coworking and maker-space with street level visibility on the bustling downtown pedestrian mall.

One of the main design challenges was bringing continuity to the separate but connected zones throughout. The main floor provides a variety of “zones” for workers including open desk space, collaborative coworking space, conferencing, multi-functional event/presentation space, a prototyping innovation lab, and a kitchenette with community dining table. Additionally, the Iowa City/Coralville Area CVB hosts a visitor’s welcome desk on the main floor. Private and shared offices, collaborative lounge space, classrooms, and conferencing spaces are located on the lower level.

MERGE promotes the community-wide commitment to creating vibrant, innovative, and collaborative working environments.
