Mitchell Schiltz

BIM Applications Specialist

I have always liked the beauty of construction, making something from nothing. I was also good with computers, so I put two and two together and decided that Building Information Modeling (BIM) was the field to go into. Being able to make realistic building in a 3-Dimensional System like Revit can be breathtaking. It has so much power and is being used all the time in the architectural field.

What's your favorite thing to do in your spare time?

I’m from Remsen, a small town in northwest Iowa of about 1500 people. Growing up, I helped my dad with his construction business whenever I was not in sports. We moved onto my grandpa’s farm after he passed, so I’ve worked there in my free time as well. My absolute most favorite place is in a field during harvest time in the fall watching Iowa’s beautiful sunset.

What drives you?

My family pushes me to not set limits on goals and to keep growing to be a better person each and every day. They made sure I gave it my all through school so I could land a great job, which I am confident I did here…..just one year out of high school.

What does NM do well?

NM makes the atmosphere feel very level and balanced in terms of respecting each other no matter what position one is in. As the youngest employee in the firm, I do not feel like anyone looks down on me but instead, are willing to teach me everything to make me better at what I do, and I appreciate that.
