Prairie City Elementary And PCM Middle School

This is the second of three projects following a district-wide master plan and bond passage.

Renovations to the Prairie City Elementary and neighboring Prairie City Monroe Middle School were bundled due to their close proximity. An addition links the two buildings to provide operational efficiencies, easy expansion, and a greater opportunity to share resources. The addition consists of a new, secure, main entrance, three classrooms, and administrative support offices for both schools.

Glass wall partitions around the media center offer greater transparency and sense of activity. The auditorium receives additional seating and acoustic improvements. The project updates the middle school’s mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

The project expands parking capacity, with separate parent and bus drop-off sequences to improve student safety.

Project Type: Education

Location: Prairie City, Iowa

Size: 13,528 SF
9,050 SF (renovated)
