On September 23, 2026, Iowa Valley’s Habitat for Humanity held a dedication ceremony celebrating the completion of a newly built home in Iowa City. The solar-powered, single-level home was designed to prioritize accessibility for the family’s youngest son, who uses a wheelchair.

Neumann Monson donated design work to the project, collaborating with the construction team to make drawings and plans that were easy for volunteers to build while retaining the initial concept. Over 250 volunteers, along with Hodge Construction, donated labor to the construction of the home.

“This home represents a degree of thoughtful design solutions,” said Jesse Bulman, the project's architect. “Through collaborative and reflective dialogue, we refined the layout to create a residence deeply attuned to its site. Our goal was to maximize wooded backyard views from the living areas and ensure accessibility for a diversity of mobility needs.”

Key features include a zero-step entry, accessible shower, and all-electric appliances. The home’s high-performance insulation and energy-recovery systems exemplify a dedication to sustainability.

It was the first Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity project to receive promotion from Habitat for Humanity International, receiving coverage on their social media feeds, as well as featuring in a KGAN news segment.
