Design is collaborative and relies on everyone's knowledge.

Upon graduating from Iowa State University, I returned home to join Neumann Monson. I admired the quality of the firm’s work and the sincerity of its mission. As a Project Manager, I’ve overseen some complex projects, such as the Iowa State University Jack Trice Stadium renovation and the University of Iowa West Campus Transportation Center. Outside the office I have served on the Board of Directors for Ecumenical Towers in Iowa City and am involved in the Chamber of Commerce’s Community Leadership Program. I live in Coralville with my wife, son, and daughter. I’m a Hawkeye sports trivia buff and know more Star Wars facts than I’d like to admit (but will, under duress).

What drives you?

My family continues to have a major impact on me. My kids are old enough that they are now the ones who push us, whether it’s encouraging us to run a 5K or to get out and walk the dog with them.

What determines a successful project?

I think of Neumann Monson and our clients as partners on a project team. We work together to find solutions. This mindset extends to the architect/contractor relationship. Design is collaborative and relies on everyone’s knowledge. Trust and clear communication leads to lasting and mutually-beneficial partnerships.

What's your favorite place in Iowa?

The quiet northern portion of the Coralville Lake. During that sweet spot between late summer and early fall, I’ll cruise out at a speed that draws a swarm of seagulls to follow me as they dive for small fish that jump in the boat’s wake.
