Nick joined Neumann Monson’s Iowa City studio after graduating from Iowa State University in 2009 and has proven himself an accomplished project architect and manager. His work on Park@201, One Place at Riverfront Crossings, and Harrison & Sabin helped transform Iowa City’s downtown area and garnered state and regional awards for design excellence. As a shareholder and leader, he has helped shape our firm’s culture of design, mentorship, and service.
Nick’s professional, community, and academic service has raised the profession’s profile and bettered his community. He serves AIA Iowa on the state and local level by contributing to annual conventions, guiding IA Architect magazine, and expanding his local chapter’s visibility. In 2018 he joined AIA Iowa’s Citizen Architect program, meeting with and speaking to state legislators.
He has served on the Iowa City Downtown District’s board for the past four years, creating new initiatives and strengthening the District’s relationship with the City Council. Additionally, he has been active in Arts Iowa City, Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity, Run for the Schools, and many other organizations in the greater Iowa City area.
Nick’s engagement in the academic arena includes outreach through AIA, Iowa Architectural Foundation, and ACE Mentors. This past fall, he and fellow NM’er Andrew Ballard led a studio at Iowa State University for fifth year undergraduates and third year graduate students focusing on issues of flooding in urban areas.
Congratulations to Nick on this well-deserved honor!
