Over the course of 40 years, Kevin has cultivated a small business into one of the largest and most respected firms in Iowa. He launched Neumann Monson with Roy Neumann in 1977, at the age of 27. After taking on the role of President in 1993, he guided the firm from seven employees in one small office to fifty professionals anchored in two cities. Steady growth weathered economic changes, largely due to Kevin’s ability to leverage project success into firm talent and a diverse project base.
Kevin’s accomplishment lies in the twin impact of his engagement with the profession in Iowa and his cultivation of Neumann Monson’s influence in the region. Always with the larger picture in mind, he serves an active role as a citizen architect, sharing his much-needed sense of design, collaboration, and process thinking with the broader community. His civic service brings direct positive impact and it benefits the profession by raising awareness of architects’ contributions to public good. Kevin has played a formative role in a host of architectural organizations, actively contributing to AIA, IAEB, ISU, and NCARB committees and initiatives.
The Medal of Honor is the highest honor that an individual can receive from the AIA Iowa chapter in recognition of their distinguished service to the profession.
