Coming from a family of (untrained) architects, I inherently fell into the profession. My parents designed the home I grew up in, my grandparents designed their home, and so on. In many ways, architecture was a natural path. During my childhood I was always drawing and constructing buildings, whether on paper, with legos, or even in the sand box.
What I’ve come to value at Neumann Monson, is how each team member brings a unique background and perspective to every project. There’s a shared commitment to our mission with the mindset that success is entirely dependent on the client’s experience- not only in the end product but also along the journey.
Rigorous work requires a strong conceptual framework to drive the decision making. This starts by being curious, iterative, and experimental in the design process.
A lot of my time over the past couple of years has been devoted to house projects – some still ongoing. Otherwise, you can find me outside with my dog, Greggor, exploring parks around Des Moines, playing the piano or guitar, and spending time with friends.
I grew up in northeast Iowa, which can be described as where the plains and hills meet. With this being where much of my family resides, I try to make it back ‘home’ as often as I can.
