Founder, Chairman Emeritus
It does not seem like 40 years ago that we founded Neumann Monson; time flies when you are having fun! Every new project type is exciting and stimulating; it’s a pleasure to have such a diverse architectural practice. Neumann Monson has a fantastic team of individuals with amazing talent who share a common goal of creating excellence for the people we serve. We achieve our aspirations because we trust in the collaborative process. At home, my wife Julie and I have collaborated on three wonderful daughters. It has been incredible to see them develop and find success in their own professional pursuits.
Describe your journey to becoming an architect.
I remember at an early age, even before I went to elementary school, I enjoyed making shelters or structures out of scraps of cast off materials laying around the farm. It might be bales of hay in the loft of the barn or fallen tree branches or cast off tin, anything could be a home in my imagination.
What do you appreciate about the architect-client relationship?
It is a very special gift to have the opportunity to creatively work with our clients in developing building solutions for their unique building needs and sites. Working side by side to develop solutions together that we didn’t imagine prior to starting the collaboration is a thrilling experience for all.
What do you do in your spare time?
Hobbies include working on my farm, woodlands, lawns and prairie. I enjoy serving my community in multiple ways, from the United Way to the Chamber, church, and the architectural profession.
