It’s incredibly motivating to be a part of a team that not only values sustainable design but is actively investing in it.

I’ve always had an interest in architecture, but in college, I ultimately chose to follow my passion for the environment and sustainability. That path led me to an internship with the Stanley Center for Peace and Security - one of our clients. At the Stanley Center’s new Living Building, I fell in love with the idea of sustainable architecture. It was the perfect blend of something I was passionate about and something I always loved but hadn’t pursued.

At Neumann Monson, I’m especially excited about the big strides we’re making with sustainability. It’s incredibly motivating to be a part of a team that not only values sustainable design but is actively investing in it. Contributing to these initiatives makes the work feel both impactful and energizing.

What drives you?

People are at the heart of everything I do. Professionally, my passion for sustainability is rooted in the idea that all people-and all living things- deserve a world where their basic needs aren’t compromised by those before them. Personally, I strive to approach everyone with empathy, knowing that so much of what people carry is invisible. Whether it’s through my work or everyday interactions, my drive to contribute to a more compassionate and equitable world always comes back to one thing: people.

How do you bring rigor to your work?

Bringing rigor to my work begins with intention. When it comes to sustainability, that means being thoughtful and aware of the broader impacts of architecture. It starts with asking the right questions and continues through research, collaboration, and critical reflection. Every decision should not only align with our clients goals, but also contribute to a built environment that minimizes harm and supports long-term ecological and social well-being.

What's an untapped passion you'd like to devote more time to?

I’ve always loved clothes and putting together outfits from unique pieces. With sustainability constantly on my mind, I’m striving to give my wardrobe a longer life. I’d love to keep learning how to sew- not just to repair my clothes, but to breathe new life into unworn items and turn them into something new.
