Neumann Monson Architects was honored with three AIA Central States Region Excellence in Design Awards this October at a celebration in St. Louis, MO. The three awarded projects were entered in the architecture category, of which only nine awards were presented. The awards program honors projects in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma with notable accomplishment and excellent design qualities.

An Honor Award, the highest award given, was presented for 111 East Grand Avenue in Des Moines. The innovative dowel laminated mass timber office building is the first of its kind in Iowa.

A Merit award for excellence in design was presented for HNI Corporate Headquarters. The renovation of a former manufacturing warehouse celebrates the company’s transparent relationship with its hometown and creates a new campus identity.

Fort Des Moines received a Distiguished award for excellence in design. The adaptive reuse project is a renovation of six historic structures – four army barracks and two horse stables – into 142 one-and two-bedroom income restricted housing units.

Congratulations to our clients and team members!
