Beginning in mid-March, a large portion of our studio began working remotely. The shift has gone remarkably well, with just enough video gaffes and frozen screens to keep us humble. Though we miss stopping by each other’s desks and meeting up in the crit space, there’s something comforting about having everyone just one call away.

As designers who help shape the built environment, we are naturally interested in everyone’s workaday surroundings. The places where we shelter have become objects of fascination.

From a basement cubby keeping tabs on a makeshift home school to a recently renovated attic, NM’ers have gotten a kick sharing pictures of their home workstations. Most importantly, seeing everyone in their natural habitat has provided much needed connection.
