2025 IIDA Interior Design Excellence Awards

Neumann Monson Architects has been recognized with three International Interior Design Association (IIDA), Great Plains Chapter Interior Design Excellence Awards.
The Stanley Center for Peace and Security in Muscatine, Iowa, received an Overall Project Award. Designed to meet the rigorous standards of Living Building certification, the project was praised for its seamless integration of materials, textures, and greenery. One judge noted, “It’s not only aesthetically stunning, but also tells an incredible story. It’s a beautiful example of how thoughtful, sustainable design can serve both people and the planet.” The building’s responsibly sourced materials and its mission-driven occupants’ commitment to community impact were highlighted as standout elements.
The Little Dutch Academy in Pella, Iowa, also earned an Overall Project Award. The 30,000-square-foot preschool addresses a critical local childcare need by combining engaging design with community heritage. With tulip-inspired interiors, adaptable learning environments, and enhanced security features, the facility supports both current and future generations of young learners.
Additionally, the Little Dutch Academy received the Best Moment Award for its playful, child-centered play wall. Crafted from white oak, the imaginative casework doubles as teacher storage and a scaled-down wonderland for children complete with nooks, passageways, and whimsical floor patterns that invite exploration and joy.
Projects were submitted from Iowa and Nebraska in categories including corporate, hospitality, healthcare, education, civic and community, and product design.
IIDA is a professional association with more than 12,000 members around the world. The Great Plains Chapter is a part of the Central US Region.
